The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has confirmed that the 2025 edition of the Super Cup will take place in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, starting from April 21. This will be the fifth edition of the tournament, featuring 16 teams in a knockout format.
A total of 13 Indian Super League (ISL) clubs and three I-League teams will compete for the prestigious title. The Super Cup, which replaced the Federation Cup in 2018, has been a key fixture in Indian football, with Bhubaneswar also hosting the previous edition.
Bengaluru FC became the first-ever champions in 2018 after defeating East Bengal in the final, followed by FC Goa’s triumph over Chennaiyin FC in 2019. The competition was discontinued from 2020 to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic but made a successful return in 2023, where Odisha FC lifted the trophy after beating Bengaluru FC in Kerala.
The 2024 edition saw East Bengal claim the title in a dramatic 3-2 extra-time victory over Odisha FC at the Kalinga Stadium, making them the defending champions for this year’s tournament. The upcoming competition will see all past winners—Bengaluru FC, FC Goa, Odisha FC, and East Bengal—battle for supremacy once again.
Adding further incentive, the champions of the Super Cup 2025 will earn a spot in the AFC Champions League 2 (ACL2) Playoffs for the 2025-26 season.
